Visible Practice

This addresses the business issue of making practice management information visible for two types of requirements.

• Management information for Managers
• Management Information for Lawyers

Management Information is updated overnight and focuses on providing graphical and tabular representation of how the firm is doing against targets. It keeps a historical record and has facilities to set targets at individual and team level.

As each firm has different requirements for Management Information, these facilities need to be tailored to each firm's needs and thus are provided in the context of consultancy and are used as a starting "tool kit" of ideas to provide cost effective bespoke systems to firms.

Management Information for Managers

Updated each night, graphs are provided using standard Excel facilities - primarily Pivot Tables. These are refreshed each night automatically and present information in graphical and tabular form. The graphs and tables can then be made available on the Intranet. For the more advanced user they can also manipulate the charts and tables themselves to "drill down" into information or to present it in an alternative form. Most firms already have the tools needed to do this - it is simply a matter of making full use of them.

Management Information for Lawyers

This works through the Intranet and the Lawyer has a personal Home page where each morning, the they are presented with a graphical representation of progress against targets up to the end of the previous day.

From this they can click and "drill down" into the detail making up the figures thus allowing them to investigate if all is not as they expected. This facility also keeps a record of the position at the end of each month, thus allowing them to go back to previous months and see how they have done.
